PFAS in the marine environment

This English-language report examines PFAS in the marine environment and the role of municipalities in managing the problem. It provides background on PFAS, considers pathways by which the substances reach the environment and discusses their persistence and wider implications. The report also reviews the regulatory landscape and gives examples of measures being taken by municipalities in Sweden and elsewhere. A particular emphasis is placed on the opportunities available to local authorities to reduce PFAS use and spread while dealing with existing contamination. Originally produced by KIMO Sweden in Swedish, the English edition extends this municipal-focused knowledge resource to a wider audience.
