Municipalities working together for a clean and resilient coast
KIMO Netherlands & Belgium is a network of coastal municipalities working together to protect the North Sea, Wadden Sea, coastal waters and the transition zone between land and sea. As an organisation of local governments, KIMO brings municipalities together to address shared challenges relating to marine and coastal environmental protection, safety, recreation, tourism and economic development. The network works with national and international governments, organisations, businesses, knowledge institutions and other stakeholders to exchange information, influence policy and develop practical solutions. Its work includes tackling marine litter, supporting sustainable coastal and tourism policy, improving coastal safety and responding to issues such as sea-level rise and climate change. KIMO Netherlands & Belgium is also part of KIMO International, giving its members a collective voice in wider European and international discussions affecting the marine environment.

Marine Environment
Protecting the North Sea and coastal waters by preventing pollution, restoring environmental quality and supporting healthy marine ecosystems.
Clean Beaches
Working with municipalities, businesses, organisations and volunteers to reduce beach litter and promote cleaner, more sustainable beaches.
Sustainable Fisheries
Supporting a sustainable fishing sector while reducing fishing-related waste and strengthening cooperation between fishermen, ports and coastal municipalities.
Climate-Resilient Coast
Promoting coastal management that responds to climate change, sea-level rise and changing pressures on coastal communities and ecosystems.
Coastal Safety
Representing coastal municipalities on safety issues and helping ensure coastal development balances environmental, social and economic needs.
Sustainable Coastal Economy
Supporting responsible tourism, recreation and economic development while protecting the environmental quality and long-term resilience of coastal areas.
