Overview
Lomma has a 21-kilometre coastline along the Öresund, including the ecologically important Lommabukten. The municipality has developed dedicated marine environmental programmes focused on protecting biodiversity, reducing nutrient pollution and improving knowledge of coastal ecosystems. Its marine nature reserves include Strandhusens revlar, with eelgrass meadows supporting fish and invertebrates, and Södra Lommabukten, a Natura 2000 site. Lomma has also participated actively in KIMO and Öresund water cooperation, while the LIFE Coast Adapt project tested nature-based approaches to coastal erosion and climate adaptation.
