KIMO Denmark's role in the project:
KIMO Denmark coordinated work on collecting and reusing beach wrack and led a municipal knowledge-sharing network on coastal biomass.
Power Bio explored how residual biomass such as seaweed, eelgrass and other beach wrack can be collected and used more sustainably, supporting both biodiversity and the circular economy.
The project investigated opportunities to use biomass for biogas, pyrolysis, high-value products and other applications rather than treating it simply as waste. KIMO Denmark coordinated work on collecting and reusing beach wrack and established a municipal ERFA network to share knowledge and develop practical approaches. The project brought municipalities, businesses and research organisations together across Denmark and Sweden to test solutions and identify opportunities for scaling up sustainable biomass use.
