Overview
Shetland has a highly marine-dependent economy and extensive coastal waters. The Council monitors pollution in its ports and harbours, maintains emergency response plans and supports KIMO’s Fishing for Litter facilities. Its biodiversity work also includes long-term monitoring around major marine industrial sites and support for nature restoration.
