Meet Helena Norin – the new Chair of KIMO Sweden. Ms Norin, a qualified civil engineer specialising in chemistry, has worked in the environmental field for many years. In a previous position, Helena was responsible for developing criteria for the ecolabel “Good Environmental Choice” and as such she has extensive knowledge regarding the environmental assessment of chemical products. She has previously served as chairman of the Nature Conservation Association in Gothenburg.
Ms Norin states that although there is a time and place for taking the ideological high road when engaging in environmental advocacy, she feels the time has now come for her to engage in the political process in order to drive change from inside the system. For this reason she has turned her hand to politics, serving first as a deputy member of the Environment and Climate Board and thereafter being elected as Chair of the Environmental Committee for the City of Gothenburg.
Ms Norin takes over the reins at KIMO Sweden during a crucial period for the network. Much effort has been put in to expanding the scale and influence of KIMO Sweden’s work and this has started to bear fruit. We welcome Ms Norin to KIMO and look forward to working together to further KIMO’s work both in Sweden and around the North and Baltic Seas.
