The OSPAR Commission is the regional framework through which 15 governments and the European Union cooperate to protect the North-East Atlantic marine environment.
Its work covers pollution prevention, biodiversity and ecosystems, offshore activities, hazardous substances, eutrophication and assessment of the marine environment. OSPAR’s North-East Atlantic Environment Strategy 2030 provides a shared vision for clean, healthy and biologically diverse seas that are used sustainably and resilient to climate change. KIMO is an official observer and contributes the practical perspective of coastal municipalities to OSPAR discussions and policy development, particularly on marine litter, pollution prevention and the impacts of human activities at sea.
