KIMO UK's role in the project:
KIMO UK developed and maintains educational materials and supports schools and educators in using practical activities to explore marine litter and plastic pollution.
KIMO UK has developed a suite of educational resources designed to introduce primary-school children to marine litter and plastic pollution.
The online materials include activities exploring how litter moves through the ocean, how plastic affects marine wildlife and how different materials degrade over time. The resources include practical experiments and interactive activities that teachers can use in classrooms without specialist equipment. They were developed primarily for Scotland and align with the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, while being suitable for wider use. The education programme complements Fishing for Litter by addressing marine litter awareness and prevention alongside physical removal from the sea.
