KIMO NSC Joint Statement on PFAS

The joint statement from KIMO and the North Sea Commission calls on the EU to take ambitious and comprehensive action to address PFAS pollution. It places the issue in the context of the review of EU REACH rules and stresses the importance of ensuring that coastal communities’ experience is reflected in decision-making. PFAS are described as persistent substances occurring in marine environments and capable of accumulating through food chains. KIMO and the North Sea Commission use their combined networks of regions and coastal municipalities to strengthen calls for effective chemical policy and better protection of marine ecosystems and coastal communities.
