KIMO Resolution 16/2

This resolution identifies microplastics as a growing problem for seas and coastal environments and calls for action to reduce emissions at source. KIMO highlights the need for better knowledge of sources and pathways, together with effective preventive measures. The resolution reflects KIMO’s early international work on microplastic pollution and its ambition to raise the issue on the political agenda. As a policy statement, it is intended to guide KIMO’s advocacy and encourage governments and other responsible stakeholders to develop regulation, research and practical solutions.
