Resolution 21/01

This resolution addresses microplastic fibres released from textiles and calls for measures to reduce emissions associated with clothing and washing. KIMO highlights textiles as a pathway by which synthetic fibres can enter wastewater, waterways and the marine environment. The resolution supports action to improve knowledge, reduce releases at source and encourage solutions such as better product design, improved washing practices and filtration. It forms part of KIMO’s advocacy on microplastic pollution and reflects the organisation’s interest in practical measures that municipalities, governments, manufacturers and consumers can support.
